It is more than simply posting the price of tuition and a meal plan to their website. Colleges all over the nation need to start thinking about the actual cost to attend their institution. A recent federal requirement mandates that within two years all institutions need to post the net price of attending their school to their website. read more »
President Obama continues to respond to questions regarding his goal of "putting the United States atop all countries in college-completion rates by 2020." As part of this goal, he wants every American to have a year or more of education and reward both 2-year and 4-year colleges that keep the students' cost as low as possible.

"Administrators at Chaffey College, a two-year institution in California, were concerned. A growing number of their students were landing on academic probation, and by the spring of 2004, about 3,500 students—one out of every five—were on probation. The officials decided something had to be done."

Over 100 college presidents are calling for a re-examination of the drinking age, according to a story on National Public Radio.
In the story, John McCardell, former President of Middlebury College, argues that by the time they arrive on college campuses, students already have experience with alcohol. Colleges can either try to change the reality of alcohol use or they can "create the safest possible environment for that reality" for students.
Last weekend, there were 17 murders in the Juarez area, bringing the August total to at least 75, and the total for 2008 to at least 769.
In at least one case, bystanders were killed because they were in the way of assassins escaping from murder scene. read more »
